"A year
after David Wayne's departure from Metal Church, and Mike Howe's
entrance, Reverend was born. Reverend debuts at the Rainbow Club in L.A.
on a Friday night, man, as the main attraction. "Reverend,
featuring David Wayne" was on the Marquis. I went and saw them man
and I was ...... blown away!"

"In the late eighties, David Wayne left Seattle and moved to Los Angeles, where he formed a completely new band called Reverend. Throughout the 1990s, Wayne sang for them, then returned to Metal Church in 1998.
Which band was heaviest? It was hard to decide. I mean, you had the two Millington brothers, ya' had the same original lead singer from Church and Church's new lead singer Mike Howe battling it out for the bruttalness of the Metal. In other words, even though it was in your face, it was the kind of in yer face that the message only had to be implanted one time.
Final statement from the Dark Knight:
These two bands were the finest, hardest, brutallist, in yer face, true Blitzkrieg of Metal always on the edge, always out there and always leaving a message that sometimes certain
individuals did not pick up on. And we know who you are."

REVEREND c.
1994, performing at Little Dutch Inn in Yakima, Washington. According to
guitarist Bill Rhynes, the band played as the house band there for 6 months or
more, during 1994. "David had moved to Yakima after he left Los Angeles in about '93-'94 and hooked up with some locals (including me at the time) and we played god awful cover
tunes -- everything from AC-DC to Garth Brooks. Dave did a great Garth! It
was just a way to make some extra money and have fun plus the tavern let us jam there during the week to work out our original
REVEREND material. I never got to record with Reverend and that particular line-up (David Wayne, drummer Jamie
Northrup, myself and bassist Chuck Smith...and then drummer Todd Stotz) was never really recorded in official Rev
history. However, I spent a couple of years playing with Dave, and Todd went on playing and recording with Dave for some time after that. Todd taught me and Dave how to make our own beer...it was killer. I did end up moving to Burien and living with Dave for some time, but things were going slow to nothing, and I was having some heinous financial issues, so left Rev...only to get back together for a short time in '99-2000 with Todd and a couple newer guys...
I still have a couple of REALLY bad 4-track demos I did with Dave back in 2000...two songs that were on cassette for too long and are kinda rough on the ears..."
