Here's the story:
(updated 04/25/10)
My band Koz of Konfuzion was playing at Uncle Sam's one night with Bleach Black and Surgical Chaos. It didn't completely feel like a show, it felt like a party. Uncle's is in Spanaway and our band is from Graham, so we decided it might be cool to have a place to grow in the area. We started playing Tuesdays and decided quickly we wanted Fridays. Craig Arrowood (Beerman) agreed and we start inviting some metal bands we have met this past year or gigging. Beerman told me he was planning on building a huge 40 ft stage in the back of the property and I got to walking around and thinking about my band's Fridays on a big stage. There is about 2 acres of grass area, a beer garden, a shot shack, a big brick fire pit, awesome food, $1 beer, $2 well drinks before 7pm, a covered bar outside, music inside, with a fun staff, and an easy way to bring in big production. My mind thought about places like this in Santa Cruz, Florida, and Hawaii where there was a DJ and bands, and just a great vibe. It just popped into my head, MEtal Effing Fridays. Koz of Konfuzion agreed that it was a good idea so I ran with it! I started booking bands in April to see if the idea would catch fire. Special thanks to I Defy, Menace, Dead Soul Funeral, Three Chord Killer, Open Rebute, and Dead Precious for helping the show and being there for the metal of it all. For our first show we did a benefit for Bikers Fighting Cancer and the money went towards gas cards for the families in need. I thought,' Wow, we did that.' I think sometimes our desires make us want to take and achieve, but giving in the name of metal was effing awesome. We are currently looking into the Red Cross to help military families and other needs. I am an inactive Marine and the soliders mean a lot to me and our effing awesome country. In May, our ads come out on the Funky Monkey and we have hopes that Garage Monkey's bands will be part of the show. I recently booked two bands from out of town, one from San Diego and the other from Salem. Originally this show was for local bands, but I can see making the shows starting at 6pm when people get off of work to burn off some steam and see more metal bands in the show. Metal Effing Fridays is something that a lot of people are involved in already and I realize it's an entity of it's own where everyone gets paid and has an awesome time. We deserve to have the crowds come to us for a change instead of playing empty clubs and selling tickets. This is a free admission event. As the vocalist of Koz of Konfuzion, I can say this, "It takes a lot of work to do what we do, a lot of practice, gas, time, creativity, arguing sometimes, burning and jamming, equipment problems, gigging, promotion, merchandise, CDs, everybodys families, friends, roadies, fans, ect. Honestly, an empty clubs just suck!! It kills the spirit of a head banging mania, which is why we effing do it in the first place. It's so RRRRRaw!!! So the Effing line up for the next four effing shows
is:
April 23rd: Mono Chromatic Stains, Crush Proof Juice Box, Koz of Konfuzion, and One Last Look
April 30th: Blacktop Demons, I Defy, Faces Pail, and KOK
May 7th: Koz of Konfuzion, De-Krep-IT, Hide the Scarz, and Dying to Bleed
May 14th: 50 Caliber Nightmare, Dead Soul Funeral, Lesson in Chaos, and KOK

Peace,
David Bro
